Arrival
Least Terns are the smallest of American Terns and are considered an endangered species in New York State. They are protected by the Federal Government through the DEC.
Their arrival is approximately in early June to the Long Island Sound where they will breed.
The last successful breeding season on this particular beach was in the year of 2010. Either predation or being washed out was the cause of the inability to produce or maintain.
